Lindenhurst Man Snags $1M Prize
Nikolaie Haidu wins the top prize on a New York Lottery scratch-off game.
The number of jackpot winners this year from Lindenhurst has grown once again.
Freight car company employee Nikolaie Haidu, 48, of Lindenhurst, won a $1,000,000 top prize on the New York Lottery's Ruby Red X12 scratch-off game.
Haidu purchased his top-prize winning ticket at Restaurant Associates LLC at 235 East 42nd Street in Manhattan, Lottery officials said in a release about winners recently receiving a total of $19 million gleaned from a number of Lottery jackpot and scratch-off games.

The release indicated Haidu was one of 16 upstate, downstate and out-of-state winners who received their prizes from Lottery's Yolanda Vega last Thursday, October 4, at a press event held at Resorts World New York City Casino in Queens.
He'll receive his prize in 20 annual payments of $50,000 (net $33,090), officials added in the same release.

In addition to Haidu, other lucky Lindy jackpot winners this year include Melissa Mainiero, John Tighe, Joseph Silverstein, Patricia Magliaro, Israel Esquenazi, Antonia Savona, Robert Libby, Maria Biscarr, Sylvia Anderson, Peter Roth, David Salegna, Bruce Magistro and David D'Amore.
All of these residents have hit it big in the New York Lottery by purchasing various drawing and scratch-off tickets from local businesses.
