Lindenhurst Schools Select New Assistant Superintendent for Special Education

The Lindenhurst Union Free School District has hired Alicia Podlaha as Assistant Superintendent for Special Education. Ms. Podlaha brings nearly two decades of dedicated experience in special education and a proven record of leadership to the role.

Ms. Podlaha joins Lindenhurst from the Roosevelt Union Free School District, where she most recently served as the Assistant Director of Special Education. In that capacity, she administered and coordinated all special education services, chaired committees on special education and preschool special education, and ensured compliance with state regulations. Her background includes roles as a lead special education teacher and special education teacher within the Roosevelt school system, providing her with a deep, practical understanding of student and teacher needs.

“Ms. Podlaha comes to our District with a deep background and decades of experience in special education,” said the Superintendent of Schools Vincent A. Caravana. “We are confident that our special education program will be in good hands under her guidance and we are thrilled to welcome her to the Bulldog family!”

In addition to her work experience, Alicia Podlaha holds certifications in school building leadership, school district leadership, and educational leadership and administration. She has a Master of Science in education from Dowling College.
