Lindenhurst Sophomore Tyler Hughes Honored
Lindenhurst High School sophomore Tyler Hughes is recognized for his participation in a student leadership program held by Erase Racism, as well as for his volunteerism.

Lindenhurst High School sophomore Tyler Hughes was honored with certificates for his participation in a student leadership program held by Erase Racism, sponsored by the Jewish Community Relations Council of Long Island.
The workshop, held recently at Suffolk Community College, honored high school students working at creating a more civil society by building ties across communities, working on intergenerational projects or volunteering their time.
Hughes volunteers at Tackapausha Museum and Preserve in Seaford. His work includes caring for the animals and cleaning the preserve. He met wildlife rehabilitators as a part of his volunteer work.
“Tyler is a terrific student and an amazing person,” said LHS guidance counselor John Rosillo. “He was deserving of being honored.”
The certificates Hughes received were from Babylon Town Supervisor Rich Shaffer, Suffolk County Legislature DPO Wayne Horsley, New York State Assemblyman Bob Sweeney and New York State Senator Charles Fuschillo, Jr.
He also received a Students Building Bridges award from the Jewish Community Relations Council.
