Lindenhurst Teacher Receives Broadway World’s Regional Award

The Albany Avenue teacher won Best Supporting Actor for a recent black box performance.

LINDENHURST, NY — A Lindenhurst teacher is yet again being recognized for his theatrical accomplishments.

Albany Avenue music teacher Tyler Smalling recently won an award for Best Supporting Actor in a Play presented by BroadwayWorld’s Regional Awards for his role in a black box production, “The
Scarecrow and Mrs. Gale,” the district announced.

The performance took place at the South Shore Theatre Experience in Lindenhurst.

In addition to his role at Albany Avenue, Mr. Smalling also assists in various other performing arts events throughout the district, including directing the recent Lindenhurst High School musical.

Smalling's nomination for the role was announced in January, alongside Lindenhurst High School senior Heather Neumar for Best Actress in a Play for her role in a black box production of “Afflicted."
