According to her Rock Hall biography, the two met in 1979. Girlado's "distinctive, distorted guitar playing complemented the clarity and strength of Benatar’s voice."

The power couple quickly rose to the top of the charts with hits like "Heartbreaker”, “Treat Me Right," “Hit Me With Your Best Shot,” “We Belong,” and “Invincible.”

The induction ceremony will take place on November 5 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Benatar and Giraldo have been on Long Island in recent years, not just in concert but on the East End, showcasing the "The Romeo and Juliet Project", a musical. With a book by Bradley Bredeweg and directed by Scott Schwartz, artistic director of the Bay Street Theater, the show weaves together the 40 years of lyrics and music Benatar and Giraldo have created with the timeless tale of a Shakespearean classic.
