Lindy Happenings: Chinese Auction, Dance, Walk-a-Thon, Festival

Highlights this weekend, September 21 to 23, include a LFD Ladies' Auxiliary Chinese auction and the annual Christina Renna Foundation fundraiser, plus the Saint John's Fall Festival, KoC's Hobo Dance, a LML concert, a magic show at BACCA

LOOM Weekend Events
The Lindenhurst Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1421 is holding several events this weekend:

  • Teen Night on Friday.
  • WOTM Family Dinner on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Chinese Auction on Friday
A Chinese auction is being hosted by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Lindenhurst Fire Department.

The doors for the event at Firemen's Pavilion open at 6:30 p.m., and the drawing begins by 8 p.m.

Cake and coffee will be served.

Football on Saturday
The Lindenhurst Bulldogs are going on the road to face Bay Shore.

The game begins at 2 p.m.

Hobo Dance on Saturday Night
The Lindenhurst Knights of Columbus is holding a Hobo Dance on Saturday night.

Members of the Council and the Ladies' Auxiliary will put on a review of songs, and all are welcomed to come in their Hobo outfit.

The Best Dressed Hobo will receive a prize. There'll be Hobo food and drinks, a DJ, open bar, auction and more.

All profits from this Hobo adventure will be put toward purchasing new banquet chairs for the Home Association.

Fundraiser on Sunday
The 2012 Walk-a-Thon and Blood Drive for the Christina Renna Foundation - the Renna family's children's cancer charity, which was created and named after the daughter the family lost to childhood cancer several years ago - is set for Sunday.

It starts at 10 a.m. at the Lindenhurst Middle School track.

Fall Festival on Sunday
Saint John's Lutheran Church is having its 12th Annual Fall Festival this Sunday, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

This Americanafest includes a color guard ceremony, children’s games and entertainment, music by Matty B, and a raffle table with gifts.

Ticket donations are $14.00 for adults and children older than 12 years of age, and $7.00 for children six to 12 years old. Children younger than six get in for free.

Food is included in the donation, and includes traditional American fare of hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken burgers, corn on the cob, salads, fruit, soft drinks, coffee, tea, cake and ice cream.

Concert on Sunday
Joe Volturo, Remembering Ol' Blue Eyes, will play at the Lindenhurst Memorial Library on Sunday.

Food Drive for Babylon Town Food Pantry
GallettAir Incorporated Heating and Air Conditioning is coordinating a food drive for the Babylon Food Pantry, which recently announced a critical shortage, from September 10 through September 24.

People wishing to donate food could drop off non-perishable food items to the following locations Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.:

  • GallettAir Incorporated Heating and Air Conditioning, 860 Little East Neck Road, West Babylon.
  • Argyle Auto Service, Incorporated, 199 Little East Neck Road, West Babylon.
  • South Bay Collision, 260 Little East Neck Road, West Babylon.
