Lindy Happenings: Reunion, Pet Blessing, Dances, BACCA Show

Highlights for this weekend, October 12 to 14, include sales, a Pancereatic Cancer Walk and a BACCA performance, plus a Lindenhurst reunion, Saint Boniface's pet blessing, Halloween events, sports, a boating course, Fall cleanup and two dances.

Small Business Seminar on Friday
A free Small Business Financing Seminar is set for 9:30 a.m. at the Lindenhurst Memorial Library on Friday.

Small business owners and entrepreneurs will listen to a panel of experts at the LML discussing various financing resources currently available and where to receive free technical assistance.

LHS Class Reunion on Friday and Saturday
The Lindenhurst High School Class of 1972 is celebrating its 40th class reunion at Firemen's Pavilion on Saturday.

Festivities kick off on Friday night at Duffy's at 7 p.m.

Boating Course on Saturday
America’s Boating Course for adults and young boaters (from 10 years old and older) will meet on October 13 and 27, and November 3, at the Long Island Yacht Club at 307 Little East Neck Road in Babylon, according to organizer the Great South Bay Power Squadron.

The course is taught by New York State-certified volunteer instructors of the United States Power Squadrons. The Squadron is a non-profit organization of boating enthusiasts who've already taught more three million students how to make their boating safer and more enjoyable.

The course is offered to adults and young boaters (from 10 years old and older) in more than 500 local areas nationwide. The course is free, but there's a nominal fee of $75 for the boating book and plotting instruments.

Registration for the first 40 students will be online at www.gsbps.org (link to GSB Public Course Schedule). In-person registration will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on the first day of the course at the Long Island Yacht Club.

Fall Cleanup and S.T.O.P. Day on Saturday
The Babylon Town Fall Cleanup Day is this Saturday, October 13, from 7:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the Residential Recycling Center located on Field Street in West Babylon.

Acceptable items include furniture, white goods (such as stoves and dishwashers) and wood products such as fencing, paneling and brush.

Unacceptable items include car an boat parts, or demolition debris.

Wood items must be cut into four-foot lengths.

For information on the type of items that will be accepted at the Residential Recycling Center, call 249-9346 or 249-9347.

In addition, the Town will be holding a S.T.O.P. (Stop Throwing Out Pollutants) Day the same Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

This program allows residents to bring household hazardous wastes to the Recycling Center for safe disposal. Participation in this program is vital to insure safe drinking water and a healthier environment for the future. Please label all material.

BACCA Performance on Sunday
There's a performance on the agenda for the BACCA Arts Center in Lindenhurst.

Tales of Terror From Nightmare High School is presented by South Shore Theatre Experience.

It'll run October 14 a 1 p.m., October 20 at 11 a.m. and October 27 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

All tickets are $10.
