Lindy's Emily Clemens Named in Top 24 Volleyball Players in U.S.
As a result the Lindenhurst High School senior's heading to Kentucky next week to play in the Under Armour All-American Volleyball Match and Skills Competition.
Lindenhurst High School senior Emily Clemens was named one of the top 24 high school girls in the nation by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
Clemens was picked as the Number One player from the six-state region consisting of Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New York, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.
She'll fly to Louisville, Kentucky to play in the Under Armour All-American Volleyball Match and Skills Competition, at the KFC YUM! Center on December 16, in conjunction with the AVCA Annual Convention, set for December 12 to 16.

There were 100 players selected for this year’s honors, representing 32 states and 89 high schools. However, only those on the First Team - like Clemens - will be playing in the Competition, according to a release about it.
While there Clemens will also be fitted with a new Under Armour uniform, go to a high school All-American banquet and watch the NCAA Final Four.

Requirements for nomination for this AVCA honor were that the student-athlete be in her senior year of high school, she be nominated by her high school coach, her coach be a member of the AVCA and her individual season statistics versus all opponents for the entire season be entered into MaxPreps, a free service that aggregates and distributes data about high school sports.
Though many have already committed to play collegiate volleyball at some of the top programs in the country, according to the same release, Clemens is still undecided about where she'd like to attend college, according to school officials.
No matter though - Clemens is the first All-American volleyball player to come out of New York State and the first from Lindenhurst in 30 years, according to school officials.
She led the Lady Bulldogs to a successful season 14-3, losing a tough battle 3-2 in the Suffolk County Class AA championship game to Ward Melville.
“This'll be an amazing opportunity for Emily, and she's a great role model for our community,” said LHS Girls Varsity Volleyball Coach Kellie Block.
“She's dedicated to the sport, and exemplifies how hard work and dedication pay off," the coach added.
