Lindy Soccer Player Raising Money for European Athletics Trip
Teenager looking to bring herself and family across the ocean for nine-day soccer tour.

A Lindenhurst teenager is looking to raise money to help her and her family make a trip across the Atlantic to watch her play soccer in Europe next August.
Lily Poplawski, an eighth-grader at Lindenhurst Middle School, will have the opportunity to play soccer in Europe next year summer for The Long Island Rough Riders as they embark on the "Passport to Play." In order to get herself and her family there, however, she will need upwards of $15,000 between travel, accommodations and meals.
"Our dilemma is that the travel expenses exceed what we can afford," her mother, Diane Poplawski, wrote on a GoFundMe campaign page.
The total for having the family come along with Lily for the trip, which will stretch nine days across the continent, is upwards of nearly $12,000 before addition costs such as food, insurance, taxes and more.
"This is estimated cost, we would still need to consider food and other travel expenses, insurance, taxes, and pet care when we are away," Diane wrote. "We are asking generous people to help us out with this once in a lifetime opportunity."
The campaign, which began only a few days ago, is just kicking off on GoFundMe.
