Man Killed In DWI Crash On Long Island: Police
A DWI crash killed a man who was walking on a Long Island road on Wednesday night, according to Suffolk County Police.
COPIAGUE, NY — A DWI crash killed a man on Long Island Wednesday night, according to Suffolk County Police.
Mario Matute, 59, of Copiague, was walking on Great Neck Road when he was struck by a southbound Hyundai Tucson driven by Rand Strollo, 62, of Amityville, around 11:20 p.m., police said.
Matute was pronounced dead at the scene and Strollo was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said. The Hyundai was impounded for a safety check.
