Man Slashes Acquaintance's Neck During Suffolk Assault: Police

He also threatened someone else with the knife before leaving the home, police say.

NORTH AMITYVILLE, NY — A West Babylon man was arrested after slashing someone's neck with a knife during an assault in North Amityville Sunday afternoon, police said.

According to Suffolk County police, the incident took place at 1:38 p.m. at a home on Jefferson Avenue.

Angelo Andrade, 49, was at the home of an acquaintance when he seriously injured him during the attack, police said.

Andrade also threatened another resident with the knife before fleeing the home, police said. The person slashed, 45, was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Andrade was arrested a short time later and charged with first-degree assault; second-degree assault; second-degree menacing; and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

He is being held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Monday, police said.
