Marble Slab Creamery Closes Up Shop

Ice cream shop goes dark after nearly a decade in business.

Marble Slab Creamery, a popular ice cream franchise, has closed up its North Lindenhurst location after eight years in business.

The storefront, located at 48 East Sunrise Highway, was darkened and mostly empty throughout the past week, with all tables and chairs, kitchen equipment and containers removed from the ice cream shop.

Owners Pat and Tom responded to an inquiring customer on their Facebook page, confirming the closure of the popular ice cream spot.

"We were open for eight years and worked extremely long, laborious hours to produce such a delicious homemade ice cream that put smiles on many faces," the pair wrote. "We will always be grateful for wonderful patrons."

The owners noted, however, the business had taken them away from other moments in their lives.

"Unfortunately, over the last eight years owning and operating the store did not allow us to enjoy the things and people in our lives which are extremely important to us," they wrote. The owners noted how the store demanded their attention often, even with "wonderful employees."

The phone number for the business was also disconnected after several call attempts over the past week.

There was no immediate word on whether Marble Slab would look to transfer ownership of the franchise to another person.
