New Farmers Market Debuts In The Heart Of Lindenhurst
A new farmers market opens in Lindenhurst on Saturday.
LINDENHURST, NY — A new farmers' market is set to open Saturday at Lindenhurst's village gazebo.
The Lindenhurst Farmers' Market will take place on Saturdays through the summer until November 2 at 116 N. Wellwood Avenue.
"We have a lot of amazing vendors and local farmers sharing beautiful produce, fresh eggs, baked goods, oysters and so much more," Darlene Perez Fantel—who spearheaded the new market—told Patch.

Fantel expects around 15 to 20 vendors to be on-site for opening day.
After that, she aims to keep expanding the market to offer more locally-made items for guests to enjoy.

While the market will connect local farmers and artisans with the Lindenhurst community, Fantel found a way to put a couple of new spins on the market.
For example, she implemented the USDA's Senior Farmers Market Program which makes it possible for WIC recipients to use their coupons to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables.
In addition, the market also embraces New York's Farmers' Market Designation Program, which allows local wineries, craft breweries and distilleries to sell labeled wine, beer, cider and spirits by the bottle at the market.
Fantel's excited to watch it grow and plans to offer live music, raffles and other fun stuff throughout the summer.
"It's going to be a market that people love to come to," she said.
