Over $650 Raised for Local Family Pet's Cancer Treatments
Copiague family's pet undergoing chemotherapy to slow stage five cancer.

An online fundraiser has raised over $650 to help a local family cover the medical bills associated with their beloved dog's cancer treatments.
The fundraiser, which began late last month on GoFundMe, was started by Lisa Maria, a family friend of the Donovans of Copiague. Their family pet, Diesel, was recently diagnosed with stage five cancer.
"The symptoms were sudden and the cancer has quickly spread throughout his entire body- his blood, his muscles, even his eyes," Marie wrote on the GoFundMe campaign page. "For the past 6 years he has been a trusted protector, best friend and a loyal companion. He has left his paw print on all of our hearts and he will not be forgotten."
In order to give the dog a "fighting chance" at five or six months more, the family has decided to bring Diesel in for chemotherapy, which is costing $1,500 a month.
"We can't take their pain away, but we can let them know that we care by donating," Marie added.
Donations can be made at the GoFundMe page.
