Photos: LHS Varsity Awards 2012 Highlights

recently celebrated its athletes and coaches at the annual Varsity Awards Banquet at the Melville Marriott.

The event was coordinated by the Varsity Club and the ’s athletic department.

Awards and scholarships were presented to the best in their respective sports, the biggest contributors to their communities and coaches for their teams’ respective achievements and their work with the kids.

“The evening celebrated the accomplishments of the student-athletes and coaches throughout the school year,” explained Anthony Amesti, director of athletics, physical education and health for Lindenhurst Schools.

“The year overall was a tremendous success,” he noted.

The banquet began with the grand procession of the Most Valuable Players for each team, and they sat at a special dais.

Outstanding athletes were chosen for the Lindenhurst Hall of Fame and the Section XI Gold Key Award. Individual scholarships were also presented to players throughout the evening.
