Students learned about Native American cultures around the world, held artifacts, sat in a tepee, listened to stories and played traditional native games.
The tepee experience enabled students to sit inside the “movable classroom,” and learn about the role of the tepee for household and ceremonial uses.

Students were also given the opportunity to explore the hands-on museum of material culture that included clothing, beadwork, quillwork, dolls and drums.
“Traditional stories and teachings illustrate the importance of showing respect,” said fifth-grade teacher Janet Scala.
“The students truly enjoyed the interactive lesson,” she added.
