Nail Salon Moving Into Great South Bay Shopping Center

A nail salon will be moving into one of the vacant storefronts at the Great South Bay Shopping Center in West Babylon.

Signs went up late last week for Aegean Nails and Spa at 757 Montauk Highway, right between Dollar Tree and Yo Luv It on the eastern side of the shopping center.

Free Mold Remediation Program Set for Sandy Victims

The American Red Cross and the Community Development Corporation of Long Island have teamed up to provide free mold remediation to homeowners affected by Hurricane Sandy last October.

The American Red Cross granted $2 million and the Robin Hood Foundation also made a commitment to get the program underway.

Village Unveils Monument for Volunteers at Shore Road Park

Nearly a year to the day Hurricane Sandy struck Long Island and brought about the outpouring of support that led to so many volunteer efforts throughout the area, the Village of Lindenhurst formally thanked all of those who pitched in following the storm last October with a monument dedicated at Shore Road Park.

"'When Mother Nature was at its worst, Human Nature was at its best,'" the monument reads. "Dedicated with deep appreciation to the volunteers who provided humanitarian relief at Camp Bulldog and throughout Lindenhurst in the wake of Superstorm Sandy."

Adopt A House's One Year Event Draws Hundreds to Remember Sandy

A crowd of over 300 people packed into Lindenhurst Village Square park on Tuesday evening to mark the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Sandy making landfall, bringing a devastating burst of winds and storm surge that destroyed and damaged thousands of homes along the Long Island and New Jersey shorelines.

A photo slideshow, produced by Adopt A House executive director Jen Mackie Aulino, was shown during the twenty minute event, showing scenes from the day of the storm, the weeks after and the rebuilding efforts since Sandy struck on October 29, 2012.

Applebee's Contest Could Bring Gavin DeGraw Concert to Lindy

A contest being hosted by Applebee's in association with the "Thank You Movement" could bring a Gavin DeGraw concert to Lindenhurst.

The Thank You Movement is a project run by restaurant chain Applebee's to allow Americans to thank their armed forces for their dedication and service through an online commenting system.
