State Finance Dept. Assisting Sandy Families on Friday

Finance department will be on hand in Lindenhurst to help families fill out claims and work with any issues.

The New York State Department of Finance Mobile Command Center will be heading to Lindenhurst on Friday, November 1 to help provided assistance to families affected by Hurricane Sandy.

The mobile command center will be at Lindenhurst Memorial Library at 1 Lee Avenue starting at 9 a.m. Friday.

The finance department representatives will be helping families fill out insurance claims as well as help with mortgage relief and any other issues that have arisen.

“We’ve made significant progress rebuilding after the terrible damage inflicted by Superstorm Sandy, but there’s still more work ahead,” said Governor Andrew Cuomo in a statement. “We will continue reaching out to help those New Yorkers that are still facing challenges repairing their homes and lives in the wake of this devastating natural disaster."

He added: "New York State will continue delivering assistance to impacted families and businesses until the job is done.”

The mobile command center will also be in Freeport on Thursday and Far Rockaway on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Impacted families and business are also urged to call the DFS Disaster Hotline for assistance at 1 (800) 339-1759, which is available each week Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
