Tennis Courts Being Rebuilt at Lindenhurst Village Park
Old courts were removed due to lack of use and space needed for new playground.

Tennis fans, get your rackets ready – the village will soon have one of its courts back in service.
The Lindenhurst Village Board unanimously approved a measuring hiring a landscaping company to rebuild the tennis courts at the Lindenhurst Village Park.
Louis Barbato Landscaping of Holbrook was selected by the village at the December 3 board meeting, and will be paid $45,333 for the repaving and rebuilding on a tennis court at the park.
The former tennis courts that were at the park went underused, noted trustee Maryann Weckerle. The fences surrounding the former courts were taken down many years ago and a new playground set was installed in a portion of the former courts' area.
The village, she said, now has the money to bring at least one court back for public use.
The foundations for the older courts are still in place and are likely to be used for the project, Weckerle said during the meeting, and the new courts will likely be ready for the spring.
The next project the village plans to undertake at the popular park is adding more parking. A former handball court will become an additional area for parking at the park perhaps as soon as next summer.
