Throwback Tuesday: Former Knights of Columbus Hall
A peek into the past reveals some familiar landmarks still around today.
The best thing about our communities is our ability to take a peak back into the past and see the visual changes our forefathers made on our the places we live.
Occasionally, we here at Patch will dig up or find some older photographs, videos and more to share with the community to do a bit of time travel into what was and, now, what is.
The Knights of Columbus have been in Lindenhurst, it seems, since it was ever founded as the City of Breslau. The dedicated group has always played a big role in the village and its history.
In this postcard, courtesy Jill Edwards Mercadante of the "Lindenhurst, my Home Town" Facebook group, we can take a peek into the past at the former hall and Wellwood Avenue in its infancy.
Visible in the photo is the Lindenhurst World War I Memorial, which places this photo in the 1920's.
The Knights Hall, of course, is now located on South Broadway. The old hall is roughly where the Spoon Coffee House and Music & Arts are located today.
