Two Injured in Serious Crash on Montauk Highway

A two-car crash in Lindenhurst on Wednesday afternoon sent two people to the hospital, and tied up traffic at Montauk Highway and Wellwood Avenue.

According to eyewitness reports, a white Toyota Camry and black Honda Accord collided shortly before 5 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Montauk Highway, just before Wellwood, causing the two women - one from each car - to sustain what appeared to be serious injuries. 

The Lindenhurst Fire Department extricated the two women from the cars, and transported them to a nearby hospital.

Eastbound traffic was being diverted into the Advance Auto Parts parking lot and back onto South Wellwood, then back onto Montauk Highway, according to eyewitnesses.

No other details are known at this time.
