Tylenol Out at Lindy CVS Locations

Manufacturing problems also left the CVS locations in West Babylon, Deer Park and North Babylon with little or no supplies of the pain reliever.

A manufacturing problem at Tylenol parent Johnson and Johnson has left many area CVS stores without the popular pain reliever - including the two in Lindenhurst.

However, while the CVS locations in North Lindenhurst and the Village were out of Tylenol, both still had in stock the CVS brand of acetaminophen, according to the pharmacy departments.

"We haven't had Tylenol in a while," said the North Lindy CVS/pharmacy department.

It was the same story at both stores for Children's Tylenol. Both pharmacy departments said they had the generic acetaminophen version, but not the brand Children's Tylenol, on shelves.

A CVS spokesman told Reuters CVS will try to have Tylenol in stores in each market, but won't be able to stock every store.

Tylenol has battled manufacturing issues for years, and that's led to customers being more comfortable taking private-label versions of acetaminophen, which is Tylenol's chemical name.

Also from the Reuters report:

In 2009, before the recalls started, Tylenol had 56 percent of the United States market share for acetaminophen, according to Euromonitor, a market research data firm. In 2012 that was down to 24 percent. At the same time private-label market share has grown from 32 percent to 62 percent.
