Cops: Long Beach Man Drove Drunk Into Home

Resident in house uninjured.


A Long Beach man was charged with driving while intoxicated after his car crashed into a North Shore home early Tuesday morning.

Richardo Medina-Baez, 41, an East Broadway resident, was driving a 2005 Volkswagen southbound on Glen Cove Avenue at about 12:55 a.m. when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a residence at the Glen Cove Avenue and University Place, according to the Nassau County Police Department. A female resident was home at the time of the crash but was not injured.

Medina-Baez was removed and taken to an area hospital, where he was admitted with a head injury. His condition is unknown at this time. The vehicle was impounded.

Police arrested and charged Medina-Baez with driving while intoxicated and he will be arraigned as soon as medically practical.
