Firefighter Injures Hand In Deli Fire: Fire Marshal
The fire broke out just after noon Sunday, officials say.
LONG BEACH, NY. — A firefighter was injured responding to a fire at a Long Beach Deli Sunday, after fire officials say the deli’s kitchen caught on fire just after noon, fire officials said.
The Nassau County fire marshal’s office said Long Beach firefighters received a call just before 12:15 Sunday, responding to the 2-story mixed-use building and gaining assistance from Baldwin, Inwood, Island Park, Lawrence-Cedarhurst and Oceanside to control the blaze. With over 70 firefighters on the scene, the fire was brought under control within 45 minutes and contained within the deli’s kitchen, fire officials said.
The fire marshal and NCPD are investigating the fire Monday, officials said. The firefighter injured his hand, was treated at the scene and was the only injury reported, fire officials said.
