Two Long Beach men were charged with armed robbery after an incident on a city street last week.

According to Long Beach police, a male complainant called the department at 12:49 p.m. Dec. 19 to report that he was robbed at gunpoint on West Hudson Street. The complainant was able to identify a suspect and described the other to police officers, who responded to the scene and canvassed the area.
At 7:45 p.m., police apprehended a suspect, Thomas Keyes, 26, of Long Beach, took him into custody and arrested and charged him with second-degree robbery, robbery while displaying a firearm and criminal possession of marijuana.

At 1:18 a.m. Dec. 20, police arrested the second suspect, Philoman Smith, 24, of Long Beach, and charged him with second-degree robbery and robbery while displaying a firearm.
Keyes and Smith were arraigned Dec. 20 at Long Beach City Court by Judge Roy Tepper, who set bail for both defendants at $7,500 cash over $15,000 bond. Smith is scheduled to return to court Jan. 3; Keyes on Jan. 10, both at Nassau County First District Court in Hempstead.
