LONG ISLAND, NY — As the weather continues to grow colder, the more we love to end (or start) or day with a warm slice of fresh pie.

With numerous farms, Long Island bakeries use local produce, family recipes, and lots of love to create perfect, mouth-watering pies.

Check out these five eateries to satisfy your pie-fix this fall:

1. Lenny Bruno Farms Inc., Manorville

A family-owned and operated business for more than 90 years, you can't get fresher pies than at Lenny Bruno Farms Inc.

Each pie is made with produce grown right on the premises. Step into the Lenny Bruno farm stand, and you're guaranteed to be hugged by the sweet smells of baked apple, cinnamon, sugar, and other fruits.

The farm offers go-to favorites such as apple, blueberry, pumpkin, peach, and strawberry rhubarb, as well as a twist of combination flavors, such as caramel apple nut, peachberry, and "fruits of the forest."

Guests can also participate in seasonal events year-round, such as picking your own vegetables in late summer, and pumpkins in the fall. The farm also features its own corn maze, fresh apple cider, hot roasted corn.


2. Torte Jeff, Port Jefferson

Located on Port Jefferson's East Main Street, the baked goods of Torte Jeff are a staple to locals, but sometimes hidden gems to visitors.

Torte Jeff is located at 218 East Main Street in Port Jefferson.

The store features a variety of pies, such as apple, blueberry, strawberry rhubarb, toasted coconut, key lime, lemon meringue, chocolate cream, and vegan versions.

It also offers savory pies, such as chick pot pie and brisket pot pie. For the holidays, Torte Jeff offers Thanksgiving inspired pies such as southern bourbon pecan pie and pumpkin pie.

What started out as a part-time, pop-up shop by owner Lisa Harris in October 2019, the store grew into both a bakery, grocery, and fun, home decor and kitchenware.

Torte Jeff's pies, donuts, brownies, cheesecakes, and other pastries are baked fresh daily at its Port Jefferson Station kitchen, and delivered to its East Main Street location every morning.


3. Hometown Bake Shop Co., Centerport

If you can think of a flavor of pie, Hometown Bake Shop Co. probably makes it. The bakery offers 25 flavors of both sweet pies and savory pies, leaving customers eager to come back and try more.

In addition to the traditional fruit pies, Hometown Bake Shop Co. takes a creative approach, and offers smore's, ube, "Burnt Butter and Salt", cannoli, salted caramel pretzel, white chocolate crème brûlée, and more.

If you're in the mood for a meal, try their macaroni and cheese, eggplant burrata, ratatouille, or Italian inspired pies.

Located at 2 Little Neck Road in Centerport, the family owned and operated bakery also features various breakfast and lunch options.


4. Alpine Pastry Shoppe, Smithtown

For Alpine Pastry Shops in Smithtown, the bakery has a strong community presence, as customers often form lines "out the door" around the holidays.

The bakery's 1920s machinery that is used to make pastries today is it was thirty years ago, when it was first owned and operated by the Cuccia family.

"It's just traditional recipes," said Karen Donadeo, manager at Alpine Pastry Shoppe. "They've never changed anything since they've opened."

A Kosher bakery, Alpine offers a variety of pies, such as apple, chocolate cream, year round and blueberry in the summer. Gluten-free and sugar-free pies are also available upon request.


5. Kerber's Farms, Huntington

Known as one of the last remaining working farms in Huntington, Kerber's Farms specializes in its passion for pies.

Originally founded in 1941, the farm was later purchased and renovated in 2013.

The farm features traditional pies such as pumpkin, apple, pecan, and cherry. Customers can ship a pie to themselves or a friend on their e-commerce website.

The establishment also offers children and adult baking classes year round.
