Long Island Star Student Launched A Special Needs Gymnastic Class
"Charlie is a humble, hardworking, kind and happy young lady. She is certainly doing her part in healing the world," says a relative.

Long Island, NY — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Ruth Hyman who nominated Charlie, an 11th-grade student from Long Island, NY.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Charlie is the most humble, hardworking, kind and happy young lady. Her program TOPGymnastics for special needs children is incredible. There is nothing like it in our community or on Long Island, NY. She works tirelessly in addition to maintaining a rigorous academic course load. Charlie is certainly doing her part in healing the world!
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
She started as a competitive gymnast at the age of 6. She was a level 10 gymnast for two years. She now coaches other children and had the idea to start a gymnastics class for special needs kids after a special needs student in elementary school gave her a homemade trophy — which remains in Charlie’s trophy case to this day — after the school talent show!
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Charlie!
