Smith Point Triathlon To Close Road, Beach Sunday: Suffolk County PD
One lane of William Floyd Parkway, Smith Point Beach, and Smith Point Marina will all be closed Aug. 7 from 6:30-10 a.m., police said.
LONG ISLAND, NY — The Suffolk County Police Department is issuing a traffic advisory for Sunday ahead of the Smith Point Triathlon.
One lane of William Floyd Parkway will be closed in each direction between Smith Point Beach and Stuart Road in Shirley. The closure will be in effect from 6:30-10 a.m, according to police.
Smith Point Beach and Smith Point Marina will also be closed during that nearly four hour period, police added.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area or use alternate routes.
Also known as the Long Island Championship Race, the Smith Point Triathlon includes a 500-meter swim, 9.7-mile bike over the Smith County Bridge and a 2.9-mile flat running course on the hill over the bridge, which is a beautiful way to see the sights, according to the event organizers on Facebook.
