Blood Drive Pays Tribute To LI Woman Who Urged People To Donate

MASSAPEQUA, NY — A woman who grew up in Massapequa is being remembered with a blood drive in her honor.

The Aug. 24 drive is commemorating Bridget McElroy's birthday. She died in 2020 from cancer at age 35.

"All I want for my birthday is for everybody to give blood." her mother Mary McElroy told Patch in 2023.

They can give blood from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Marjorie Post Park Community Center on Unqua Road.
