LI Weather: Sun, Rain, Then Sun Again This Week

A full day of rain will be sandwiched between beautifully, sunny days this week. And temperatures will be nice, too.

LONG ISLAND, NY — This week is going to feature rain sandwiched between sunny days. Thankfully, temperatures will be mild the whole time.

According to the National Weather Service, rain is going to come in Wednesday night and stick around until Friday morning. Wednesday will also be the coldest day of the week, with a high of only 48. The rest of the week will see high temperatures in the mid to upper 50s.

The rain is expected to clear early Friday morning, though, and then the sun is back and will stay through the weekend. Though temperatures will start to dip again on Sunday.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 36. North wind 6 to 8 mph.

Wednesday: A 40 percent chance of showers after 2 p.m.. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 48. Northeast wind 6 to 9 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon.

Wednesday Night: Rain. Low around 40. East wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Thursday: Rain. High near 54. East wind 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Thursday Night: Rain before 2 a.m., then showers likely after 2 a.m. Steady temperature around 50. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Friday: Showers likely before 8 a.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 58. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 42.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 54.
