LI Weather: Sunny And Warm Week, Thanksgiving Before Rain Hits

LONG ISLAND, NY — After a frigid start, temperatures should pick up this week for much of Long Island. And should lead to holiday weather everyone can be thankful for.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures today are hovering in the upper 30s. But they'll start to pick up Tuesday, which has a forecasted high in the upper 40s. The rest of the week will see highs in the 50s, climbing to nearly 60 degrees on Friday.

The majority of the week will also have clear and sunny skies. But rain is likely to return on Friday.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 32. West wind 7 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 48. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 33. West wind around 6 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 52. Northwest wind 6 to 8 mph.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 35.

Thanksgiving Day: Mostly sunny, with a high near 52.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 41.

Friday: Rain likely, mainly after 7 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 57. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.

Friday Night: A chance of rain before midnight, then a chance of showers after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 42. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.
