Long Island Weather: After Henri, A Warm And Sunny Week Ahead

LONG ISLAND, NY — As the remnants of Tropical Storm Henri pass over Long Island, today will still be rainy. However, the rest of the week is going to be bright, sunny and warm.

The dregs of Henri are going to make today a lot like Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. It will be rainy all day, and there's a chance of thunderstorms later tonight.

But the rest of the week will be gorgeous. Highs will hover around 90 degrees during the day, and drop to the low 70s overnight. Clouds will be scarce, too.

Today: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 81. Southwest wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Tonight: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 9 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 70. West wind 8 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 89. West wind 6 to 8 mph.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 72. Southwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming light and variable after midnight.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 90. Light and variable wind becoming southwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 73.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 89.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 72.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 86.
