Flash Flood Watch Issued For Long Island As Ida Moves In
The remnants of the storm will make it to Long Island Wednesday, and could bring a lot of rain to the area.

LONG ISLAND, NY — A flash flood watch has been issued for Long Island Wednesday afternoon through Thursday afternoon as the remnants of Tropical Storm Ida pass over the area.
According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday is going to be beautiful and sunny, with highs in the mid-80s. There's likely to be showers tonight, and even a possible thunderstorm.
The bad weather comes Wednesday and Thursday, with high temperatures in the 70s. Wednesday could produce some thunderstorms and heavy rainfall, too. The flash flood warning is in effect for all of Long Island as the storms Wednesday and Thursday could drop three to five inches of rain.

Things should clear up by Friday and going into the Labor Day weekend, but temperatures will still be in the 70s.

Tonight: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 8 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. Southwest wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 84. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming west in the afternoon.
Tuesday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers after 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. Southwest wind 3 to 6 mph.
Wednesday: Rain likely, mainly after 2 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 77. Northeast wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Wednesday Night: Rain, with thunderstorms also possible after 2 a.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 63. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
Thursday: Rain and possibly a thunderstorm before 2 p.m., then a chance of showers after 2 p.m. High near 75. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
Thursday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers before 2 a.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 60.
Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 77.
Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 61.
