Man Attacked Woman, Her Mother In Their Nassau Home: Police
Police say the man choked and threatened to kill the woman, and pushed her 85-year-old mother down the stairs.
MASSAPEQUA PARK, NY — A Massapequa Park man was arrested Friday night after Nassau County police say he attacked a woman and her mother at their home.
According to police, the 51-year-old man was at the home of the 52-year-old woman, whom he knew, when an argument started and turned to violence. The man started to punch the woman in the face and head, and then wrapped his hands around her throat and said he was going to kill her.
The woman's 85-year-old mother heard the fight on the second floor and went up to investigate. The woman tried to stop the attack, and police say the man pushed her down the stairs, causing severe injuries to her head and arm.

Police arrived and put the man under arrest. They found that he had self-inflicted knife wounds to his throat and body.
The victims were both taken to a hospital and were treated. The man was taken to a hospital, and is listed in critical but stable condition.

The man was charged with two counts of second-degree assault, third-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal mischief and criminal obstruction of breathing. He will be arraigned when medically practical.
