Massapequa Crime Report: Grand Larceny Arrests at Sunrise Mall

Jan. 2 to Jan. 8

The following information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Grand Larceny

On Jan. 2, two women were arrested at Macy's in the Sunrise Mall and charged with grand larceny, police said. Karla Sanchez, 31, of Huntington Station, and Maria Interiano, 30 of  Bellport allegedly shoplifted and were discovered in possession of pliers. They were charged with grand larceny and possession of burglary tools.

On Jan. 4, a woman's pocketbook and credit cards were stolen at the Sunrise Mall, police said. The theft occurred at 4:50 p.m.

Vehicle Related Theft

On Jan. 2, two doors, two headlights and two television screens were stolen from a Chevy Suburban that had been damaged by Hurricane Sandy  and rendered inoperable, cops said.

On Jan. 6 a GPS was stolen from a vehicle on Willow Drive, police said.

DWAI

On Jan.5, David Baker,  27 of  Massapequa was arrested in Massapequa Park and charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and Driving While Ability Impaired, police said.

Marijuana Arrest

On Jan. 5, Jonathan Paz, 25 of Bay Shore was arrested near the intersection of  Bonnie Lane and Beaumont Avenue and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle third, and one violation of the vehicle and traffic law, police said.

Criminal Mischief

On Jan. 2, a resident of Brewster Road West heard a loud noise and discovered his front door an front window glass had been broken by bricks, police said. The incident happened at 11:20 p.m.
