Massapequa Girls Basketball Advances to County Finals
Balanced attack leads Chiefs to win over Saturday showdown with Uniondale.

Maybe 13 will be lucky for the Massapequa Girls Basketball team.
The Chiefs will be headed to the County finals for the 13th time in 18 seasons by virtue of a 64-41 win over MacArthur, in Wednesday night's semifinal at Garden City High School.
Massapequa was led by Lauren Van Buren and Melanie Hingher, who each scored 12 points, while Hingher pulled down 10 rebounds.

But the Chiefs had a balanced scoring sheet as Meghan McCabe came off the bench to score 9 points in the second quarter, allowing Coach Shari Roessler to keep an up-tempo attack going,
"Having all these kids off the bench allows us off the bench to keep running and resting, running and resting," she said.

Top seeded Massapequa now heads to Saturday's conference final against Uniondale to be held at LIU-Post at 5 p.m to try to win their first Class AA title since 2006.
