Massapequa residents voted approve the school district’s proposed $189.74 school budget 1,948-468.
The budget includes a zero percent increase in spending over the current year and carries a .95 percent tax levy decrease.
“We have spent several months deliberating and considering the concerns of our community members to develop a spending plan that allows us to continue on this path of success while proposing a tax levy increase of 0.95 %, which is, once again, significantly below the mandated New York State tax levy limit for our district,” said Superintendent Lucille Iconis. “The proposed budget maintains all of our instructional programs and attractive class sizes while allowing us to keep up with our rapidly changing world with new technology initiatives for our students.”
