Long Island Swim School is the teaching arm of the nationally ranked Long Island Aquatic Club. Our Learn to Swim programs create strong, safe, and confident swimmers for life. With locations in Garden City and Syosset we train over 2,000 children each week at every swim level from Beginner to Olympian. Long Island Swim School offers swim lessons for children ages 2 - 14years old. The main emphasis of our programs is to teach children to swim correctly and develop essential water skills in a relaxed environment. Third graders at the Eastplain Elementary School recently learned the value of re-using resources while showing off their creative side. The students took part in a lesson on recycling that involved a story and an art project. First, students in Ms. Jen Anders'  listened to the environmentally-themed story, "A Mr. Rubbish Mood," by Megan McDonald. Then the children were challenged to create an art project using items that otherwise would have been thrown out. Among the things the students came up with were an angel made out of  a nut container, a car created from a milk carton, a lantern that had been a plastic carton and a purse made from duct tape. The students proudly displayed their projects in the picture above.
