Police Patrols to Increase at Massapequa Preserve
Lawmakers and police are addressing rising drug crime rates in the area, including some in Massapequa Preserve.

Police and lawmakers are increasing their patrols in Massapequa and Farmingdale to address increasing incidents of drug-related crimes in the area.
Additional patrols and added means of prevention will be brought to certain areas, including the Massapequa Preserve, that have become high traffic areas for illegal narcotics transactions, according to the Massapequa Observer.
Helicopter surveillance and increased patrols inside and at the entrances of the 400-acre preserve will be instated, according to the report.

“Heroin usage is a critical problem in our area and we must do all that we can to eradicate this problem and make our neighborhood safer for all residents,” Kennedy said, according to the report. Read the full story here.
