High winds and heavy rain could cause flooding, down tree limbs and knock out power.

LONG ISLAND, NY — A strong storm is set to hit Long Island tonight, and it could bring damaging winds and flooding.
The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory and coastal flooding advisory for all of Long Island. The advisory was upgraded to a coastal flood warning for the North Shore of Nassau County.
Winds will start to hit the area around 6 p.m. Monday. There will be sustained winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour, with gusts of up to 50 mph. This could knock down tree limbs and cause power outages in the area.

The rain and wind could cause flooding in low-lying areas. The National Weather Service said there could be minor to moderate flooding, with the worst affecting the North Shore of Nassau County. There is also the possibility of flash flooding in areas near rivers.
The worst parts of the storm will come overnight. There may be rain left Tuesday morning, but it is expected to clear by the afternoon.
