Thunderstorms, Damaging Winds Could Hit Long Island Tonight
The National Weather Service warned of wind gusts of up to 58 MPH, which could knock down branches. Localized flooding is also possible.

LONG ISLAND, NY — The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for much of Long Island, as thunderstorms and potentially damaging winds could impact the area this afternoon and into tonight.
The notice was given to all of Nassau County and western Suffolk County.
Rain is almost guaranteed for later today, the NWS said. But the question is over the thunderstorms, and how they will impact the region. The NWS said there is a "marginal" chance we will see damaging winds, with possible gusts of up to 58 MPH. Those storms would likely come between 9 p.m. and midnight.
