Woman Gives Birth in Massapequa Home

Police delivered a baby inside the home early Wednesday morning.

A baby girl couldn’t wait to come into the world early Wednesday morning in a Hamilton Road home in Massapequa.

Police received a 911 call at 1:20 a.m. after the 30-year-old woman collapsed on the floor, authorities said.

Emergency responders arrived on Hamilton Road and found that they could not make it to the hospital before the child, a girl, would be born, police said.

During delivery, the umbilical cord became wrapped around the baby’s neck and caused her to have a weak pulse, police said. An AMT suctioned the baby’s mouth and she began breathing again, cops said.

The little girl and her mother were brought to a nearby hospital where they are “doing fine,” officials said.
