Upcoming Patchogue Village Parking Meter Rates Announced
Patchogue Village residents to park free in parking lots.

Rates for parking meters coming to Patchogue Village this Fall were announced at Monday's Patchogue Village Board of Trustees meeting at Patchogue Village Hall.
Deputy Mayor Jack Krieger said that the meters, which are being discussed to be installed on Main Street and a number of Village parking lots, will charge 25 cents per half hour or $5 flat rate for a full night.
Details are still being discussed regarding the exact number of parking spaces in the Village that will be affected, but Krieger said that most parking spaces throughout Patchogue Village will remain free. Some spaces will be free during the day, but will be metered at night.
Krieger also said that Patchogue Village residents will be able to get a sticker that will allow them to park for free in any Patchogue Village parking lot. However Village residents will have to pay for parking on Main Street.
As previously reported, parking meters are currently planned on being installed in August and in operation at some point after Labor Day. The meters are going to be solar-powered, wireless and allow payments from cash, credit/debit cards and from smartphones.
Patchogue Village Hall is accepting written comment on parking meters from residents until Tuesday, Aug. 6.

Update 7 p.m.: Switched out word "proposed" from the headline to "upcoming" as the meters have been previously approved. Also altered wording regarding the operation, as Krieger announced that the start of the parking meters would be at some point in the Fall after Labor Day and not immediately after Labor Day.
