Bittersweet Annual Menorah Lighting 'In Solidarity With Israel'

MERRICK, NY — While dozens of Israelis remain captors of Hamas, the Chabad of Merrick will celebrate Chanukah in "solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Israel," the release said.

The menorah lighting takes place on Dec. 7 at the Merrick LIRR Gazebo.

The annual party features balloon twisting and a live DJ with music. There will be holiday staples of jelly donuts and potato latkes (pancakes).

Dignitaries are expected to participate in the 17th annual Grand Menorah Lightning.
