Appointments are required for the free health test that Nassau County Legislator Kevan Abrahams is co-hosting.
ROOSEVELT, NY — NuHealth is partnering with Nassau County Legislator Kevan Abrahams (D-Freeport) to host breast cancer screenings during the next several weeks.
Mammograms will be given to eligible women over 40 years old with no out-of-pocket cost to them.
However, women with health insurance must have a prescription from their physician. The screenings are being held by appointment only from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m at each location.

“Early detection of breast cancer saves lives, and routine exams are crucial for detecting the disease in its most treatable stages," Abrahams said in a statement. "I am proud to work with NuHealth, the Theta Iota Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the Hempstead NAACP & Operation Get Ahead (OGA) and Blue Cross/Blue Shield/HealthPlus to provide women in our community with the preventative care resources that they need to make informed decisions about their health."
