The Bristal at East Meadow Resident Celebrates 105th Birthday
East Meadow Resident and WW2 Veteran Dr. Samuel Grochow Celebrated with Family and Fellow Residents at The Bristal at East Meadow

Dr. Samuel Grochow, a resident of The Bristal at East Meadow, celebrated his 105th Birthday with family and fellow residents at The Bristal at East Meadow. Dr. Grochow retired from his dental practice of 46 years in 1988. He was married to Frances for 72 years until her death at 94, in 2014. He has two sons, Robert and Jerrold, four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He graduated NYU in 1937 and NYU Dental School in 1941 and served in the U.S. Army as a dentist in Italy during WWII. He points out he was based in Bari, a port city on the Adriatic Sea far from the war and is grateful that he was never assigned to the frontlines.
Dr. Grochow says he cannot explain the blessing of his long life, since both of his parents died at relatively young ages. He has always been very involved in civic activities and is proud that he once served as President of his synagogue’s 200 member SISTERHOOD!

Dr. Grochow jokes that at one time he had a $10,000 line of credit at the casinos in Atlantic City and is now pleased just playing bingo games with his fellow residents at The Bristal.
