Cops: Man Struck on Sunrise Highway
The victim was crossing a Merrick street from Sunrise Highway when he was struck Friday evening, police said.

A man is in serious condition after he was struck by a car in Merrick Friday evening, according to Nassau County Police.
The 48-year-old victim was struck in the eastbound lanes of Sunrise Highway at 5:35 p.m., cops said. He had been crossing from the north side to the south side near Merrick Avenue, officials said.
The car that struck him had been heading south on Merrick Avenue and was turning left onto Sunrise Highway at the time, police said.

Police brought the victim to a nearby hospital where he was admitted in serious condition, cops said.
The driver stayed at the scene after the collision, authorities said. His car was impounded for brake and safety checks, officials said.

No criminality is suspected in the incident, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
