Elementary School Recognizes Veterans Day With Multiple Programs

MERRICK, NY — In honor of Veterans Day, the Levy Lakeside School PTA is participating in several special initiatives.

The Merrick elementary school is posting its second annual Field of Honor flag display on the front lawn.

The flag will feature the names of students' family members who served in the armed services.

Proceeds of flag sales will benefit the Nassau County Veterans Service Agency.

The school is also accepting donations of personal items and toiletries that will get sent to veterans in combat zones and in hospitals overseas, the Levy Lakeside PTA said in a statement.

All funds raised, items collected and letters to veterans created by the school will be distributed locally and overseas through the Levittown VFW Post 9592.
