Fundraising For Student/Athlete To Compete In Prestigious Wrestling Event
Calhoun High School sophomore James Chicco is heading to the U.S. Marine Corps National Wrestling Championship in North Dakota.
MERRICK, NY β A Calhoun High School sophomore is heading to North Dakota next month to compete in a prestigious wrestling tournament.
James Chicco qualified to represent Team New York at the U.S. Marine Corps National Wrestling Championship, the largest Olympic-style wrestling event in the world.
He'll compete in Greco-Roman and Freestyle divisions.

His family has launched a GoFundMe to support the Calhoun High School Wrestling Club, the Bellmore-Merrick Bulldogs and the Calhoun Wrestling Alumni Association are coming together to raise funds. Money will cover essential expenses, including pre-tournament training, airfare to and from Fargo, team uniforms, lodging and meals during the week-long competition, the GoFundMe description states.
More than $2,500 was donated through Thursday afternoon.
