Schneider Ahead In Hempstead Town Council Race: BOE

HEMPSTEAD, NY — Republican Chris Schneider is the unofficial winner of the 5th District Town of Hempstead council seat, according to results from Nassau County's Board of Elections.

The council member led with 37,678 votes (56 percent), while Democrat Kevan Abrahams, the former Majoity Leader in the Nassau County Legislature, had 29,341 votes (44 percent). All Election Districts were reported, the BOE said.

Schneider was appointed to the seat after the sudden death of Christopher Carini in July.
